Tambem chamada de "Main Street of America", ou "Mother Road", seguindo por esta "rota" o que mais se ve sao postos de abastecimento - a maioria abandonados, e predios que antigamente abrigavam hoteis, moteis, restaurantes, lojas, mercados antigos, alguns
conservados e ainda em funcionamento, mas muitos abandonados e destruidos...com o surgimento das Interstates, que bypassaram a Route 66 nao mais passando "por dentro" destas cidadezinhas, muitas delas acabaram declinando pela ausencia de trafego e turistas
(o que bem retrata o filme "Carros" da Pixar).
Nesta area passamos por:
Foyil - Ed Galloway Totem Pole Park - onde existem varios totens e esculturas; e o mais alto toten do mundo com 90 pes de altura...
Vinita - Clanton's Cafe - desde
1927 gerenciado por 4 geracoes da familia Clanton.
Afton - visitamos a Afton DX Service Station - um posto de combustiveis dos anos 30 que foi restaurado e atualmente abriga um pequeno museu da Rota 66 e exposicao de carros, na sua maioria Packards.
Sua proprietaria - Laurel - nos recebeu gentilmente e nos contou que este posto era um dos maiores da Rota 66, o primeiro a funcionar 24 horas e que "Bonny e Clyde" passaram por aqui...Essa senhora possui um blog sobre o local e seus visitantes e ja nos colocou
la com fotos e reportagem!!!
Miami (Oklahoma) - cidade com varias atracoes: Route 66 Vintage Iron Motorcycle Museum, Coleman Theater - que e um predio impressionante...o famoso "Waylan's Ku-Ku Burger" - rede de fast food original dos anos 60 -
e tivemos que experimentar o famoso hamburger, e claro...
Depois entramos no estado de Kansas ainda pela Route 66 e finalmente seguimos para o Missouri, tambem na 66. Nesta regiao existem muitos ferros-velho.

Also called "The Main
Street of America" or "Mother Road", when following what's left of it what we encounter the most are old service stations - most of them abandones, and old buildings that once housed hotels, motels, grocery stores, hardwares, stores which tendered to the travelers.
With the coming of the highways which bypassed the small towns the majority of them decayed much due to the lack of traffic and travelers...
Here we crossed the towns of:
FOYIL - Ed Galloway Totem Pole Park - several sculptures and totems including
the world's highest totem - 90 feet.
VINITA - Clanton's Cafe - since 1927 under the Clanton's ownership - 4 generations.
AFTON - we visited the Afton Service Station - and old DX Station which was restored and now houses a small Route 66 Museum
and a car exposition - mainly Packards. The owner - Laurel - kindly welcomed us and told us a bit about the history of the place - this was one of the biggest service station at the route, the first to stay open 24 hours, and story goes that even Bonnie and
Clyde have passed through here. Laurel has a blog about the Station and there we are at her blog with pictures and some words regarding Daniel's old cars.
Miami - Oklahoma - this town has several attractions - Route 66 Vintage Iron Motorcycle Museum;

After living Kansas through 66 we finally headed towards Missouri, where we stayed
overnight at a KOA in Joplin. In this region there are many salvage yards...
