chegar a fronteira com a Guatemala no meio do dia.
e cavernas e tambem a flora e a fauna sao exuberantes.
Belize to Guatemala
There was a tropical front all over Belize and we had strong rain all night long and as the forecast was it was supposed to rain all day we decided to keep on going and since Belize
is a small country we were able to get to the border by midday.
From Corozal Town we passed through Orange Walk and then in the outskirts of Belmopan which is the new capital and from there we went to the border town of Benque Viejo where we crossed
into Guatemala.
Belize is a poor country with most roads similar to their Brazilian counterparts – they are not in good riding condition and are very narrow. Since we were not able to visit the Caribbean side of Belize we came to the conclusion
that this must be what best Belize has to offer tourists once there are about 2oo cayes or islands ranging from a few hundred feet to 25 miles long with most found inside the Barrier Reef Reserve, by the way, the country has the longest Barrier Reef
in the Western Hemisphere including three of the four coral atolls in this area. So, there’s opportunity for all kinds of water sports such as fishing, swimming, snorkeling, diving, kayaking, parasailing, kite surfing, all in this gorgeous Caribbean
water.
Here, as it is in Mexico, there are many Mayan Archaeological sites with ruins, pyramids, caves, and also the wild life is well preserved. Here we can find the howler monkeys called the baboons, and here there is the Cockscom Basin Wildlife Preserve
which is a sanctuary with tropical forest and was created to protect a large jaguar population and other resident wildlife, also known as “The Jaguar Preserve”.
